Nothing too exciting here, today, but needing practice with taking photos! It's been so dark, gloomy and snowy lately that having natural light is tricky. You know what else is tricky? That 10 sec timer. I'll get it eventually folks.. or I'll invest in a remote!

In other news, I had a home visit today with my oldest client on my case load! She is 102 years old! Hokey smokes! She said she liked my bun. HAH! (This is funny..because don't old ladies stereotypically wear there hair in buns? Or is that just librarians?)

Husband wanted me to ask my client what her secret was - she says reading and breathing!

Blogger Spotlight - Rose a la Mode

First let me say that it is very easy to get carried away with subscribing to 1,000 fashion blogs! There are so many out there (and here we are creating another one!) but it's just so fun! Over the last few months since I've been reading fashion blogs (I was a late bloomer... didn't learn about such wonderful things until this summer!) I've narrowed down my favorites considerably - look for that list in a later post! That doesn't mean I don't have room for new favorites, however! I recently discovered Rose a la Mode thanks to Good Life for Less. I love Linda's style!

If I could I would wear jeans just about 95% of the time! I do love a good summer dress, but otherwise, I'm such a jeans girl - so it's no surprise that I'm liking her style!

I think I'm going to start saving style inspiration pictures on my computer. I always come across these pictures and at the time think "oh I totally have something like that in my closet" and promptly forget about it! That ends now, readers! Winter Pink

This is one of my favorite outfits to wear to work.  I've realized that so many of my winter clothes are black or dark colors, which I do love, but would prefer to not look funeral-like day after day after day.... The pink belt is great for not only elongating my petite frame, but also adding some fun color to the dreariness of winter.  I also wore (when I got cold) a pink polo cardigan (from the Polo Outlet) that is super fun.  Though it's a spring color, I tend to wear all my cardigans year-round.  The turtleneck is from Macy's, belt is from Wet Seal, and the skirt is a part of my suit from The Loft.  What you can't see is that I'm wearing black legging and ankle boots with a small heel.

The South is in the middle of an ice crisis and I did not go to work today.  Looks like I might not be going to work tomorrow either. My supervisor just called and my office is closed tomorrow.  I like to pick out my outfits the night before, and just in case I do go in, the outfit is laying out :)  Can you tell I'm ready for my routine to resume??!!

A Monday kind of outfit

Ok so I need you all to get excited with me! I literally rushed home after work, opened up the blinds and snapped some outfit pictures before the sun completely went away. I still have much to figure out with my camera and tripod... and posing (ha!), but it's a start. So get excited!!

Ok - so Mondays, I definitely struggle (I'm sure you're with me!) with getting out of bed in time to be creative with my outfit! Today I went for an all black look, broken up with a brown belt and yellow scarf for some pop! You'll quickly learn that scarves are one of my favorite accessories!

The Cuff

I can't help but notice that the cuff bracelet is everywhere! I've seen people wear one on each arm or just alone for a statement piece! Personally, I love just one. Mother dearest and I are sharing one from her Doncaster clothing line, and I love it! It is gold and has bling and it jazzes up an outfit easily! My coworkers aren't so sure about it, but I don't care! What do they know! ;)

With a statement piece like this, you can leave the rest of your jewelry minimal. How easy is that when you're rushing to get out the door!?

Wedges: The IT Shoe for the Spring

 After reading Tina's fabulous piece on cargo pants, I knew I was meant to follow up and find us social workers some awesome wedges for Spring 2011. Don't worry I know that Wedge sandals are always a popular staple for the spring and summer seasons but my friends, this upcoming season, the wedge sandal will be more thick and exaggerated almost like a clog. As one shoe trend insider reported "wedges are normally seen sloping downward from your heel to the tip of your toes, be on the lookout for clog-like versions of the wedge sandal where the height of the sandal will be more of a platform which will lessen the high-heeled effect of the shoe."

Ok so I know what you're thinking, this is PERFECT for us Social Workers. I mean I spend most of my days running around the streets of D.C. and am not interested in spraining my ankle even if it is in the name of great fashion. However, I am 5'1 and always feel great when I am able to get away with a shoe that gives me a little height at work.....

Ok I must confess, I have to let you know that I tend to me the least "practical" out of my fellow bloggers so please please give me your feedback if you think this look is best saved for the weekends away from work :) Hope you enjoy my findings!

Spring 2011 runway

Three trends I'm expecting to see a lot of this spring (in addition to fall and winter trend crossovers like military/ safari inspired, stripes & ruffles): 

Citrus colors: I love color, and after a cold winter I'll be so ready when spring comes around and I can scream with color!! 

70's inspired: I'm not sure I'm going to rock the 70's pants with pleats, but I love the playful stripes in the Marc by Marc Jacobs dress on the left! I'll be on a mission to find something similar at an affordable price! 

Global prints: If I take part in the global print trend it will likely be in accessories like a scarf or possibly a tank.. possibly. I haven't seen a lot of maxi dresses yet, but I'm encouraged that they might still be in so I can get more use out of the ones I have from last year!
