Pinspiration

Happy Sunday, readers!

Today is a BIG day!!! In a matter of hours I will be driving to my husband's Army post and will PICK HIM UP!! That's right! Deployment = OVER!!!!! OMG. It has been a long year + of separation, but thanks to great friends, family, and a supportive husband I survived!!

Yesterday kinda felt like the day before our wedding! I just couldn't believe it was finally here! As my mom pointed out, it really is appropriate to compare to wedding day jitters as we'll finally get to be real newlyweds and start our life off together! Living together! Genius.

Trying to figure out what I was going to wear seemed like a big deal. Inspired by an image on Pinterest, I put a similar outfit together!
Black Dress, Boots, Inspiration Image
I love how easy this look is AND how it just screams fall in a simple, sophisticated way! The Anthropologie dress (from the original image) is no longer available (and was probably uber expensive) but this black dress from Gap feels like a great alternative!

The online image really does not show how great it is! It looks so much better in person. In fact after I got it I kept looking on the website for it to show up, and finally (after doing this for days) looked at the tag and the numbers matched with this dress! It just doesn't look the same! On me at least the sleeves are 3/4 length (and I don't think I have crazy long chimpanzee arms), and it's not so bunchy in the front. You must try it on! I know I'm going to wear it a ton and style it many ways! Even better, it's on sale now! Just trust me. :)

Turns out, it's going to be too warm today for this ensemble, so I'm going a different route, but once it gets cooler again I'll be rocking the dress and boots!

Have a great Sunday y'all!!

Copycat Shade Outfit

This image has been going around pinterest and I'm in love!
To be honest, I'm not really familiar with Shade - the source of the above outfit,  so I've recreated the look using pieces you can try on in stores! Online ordering makes me nervous!!

Isn't that sweater fabulous (it also comes in olive and grey!)?? Love it. Want it. Don't need it. Typical.

Time Management and My Fall Wishlist!

I'm back!  I have not forgotten SWC!  Thank for picking up my slack, Tina :)  My workload has tripled and I have been working from home trying to catch up on documentation.  A co-worker told me to stop immediately because it will start to take over my life, hence no blogging.  Is anyone else guilty of chronically working at home?  I thought I had set good boundaries, but I guess I am still working on it. We had staff development on Thursday and were discussing ways to help with time management.  One co-worker shared this amazing idea called "Power Hour."  It is when you take an hour out of your day and finish everything you need to.  You do this by shutting your door, getting out of your email, putting your phone on do not disturb and putting your cell on silent.  I may put a sign on my door as well.  Is this not the most brilliant idea?!  Do y'all do this?  Am I the last one to know about this little nugget of joy?  I was off on Friday and am starting tomorrow.  Things tend to come up in this type of work, but I feel like I can accomplish this goal.  I think this is a tip that can work with any profession.  Try it out and let me know what you think!

So this is my first weekend of being work-free and it feels great.  I have been back playing on pinterest and awaiting the arrival of fall.  Many of the blogs I regularly ready have created fall wish lists and I thought I would follow.  Some are more practical than others, it's a wish list, right!? Here it is:

1.Monogram necklace- This necklace (to me) is the new version of the "Carrie" necklace that SJP wore during SATC.  Also I'm a lover of a monogram.  When I pinned it in pinterest I labeled it "Always need another monogram."

2. Lace top-  It will be a nice fall addition to the wardrobe.

3. Gingham button-up shirt-  I love the way it can be layered.
4. Red Pants- Ask anyone- I have been hunting for them for months.  I can't find any that fit or are somewhat casual, oh and that don't break the bank.  I can also wear them to Alabama Football games!

5. Women's Angelfish Slip-On Boat Shoe in Leopard- I have loved these since they came out last year.  I have a secret love of Leopard print.  My phone cover is purple leopard print, which says it all.  I will probably ask the husband for these during holiday time :)

6. Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand- Target had this on sale for $21.99 last week and I indulged yesterday, before the sale was over.  I wasn't going to, but it got awesome reviews on amazon.  I'm going to practice on myself today so I can wear my hair wavy to work tomorrow. Pics to come when I can perfect the curls!

7.  The Louis Vuitton Speedy 30-  I assume I will not get this anytime soon!  My grandmother had a Louis exactly like this when I was growing up and I just see this purse as a classic and timeless piece.  Sadly my grandmother's Louis has disappeared :(  I should put this on my long-term wish list!

8.  OPI- You Don't Know Jacques- I have lusted over this interesting neutral polish for a whole year.  Why?  My local Ulta runs out within 3 days of getting the shipment.  I was so wanting this polish that I was going to buy it on Amazon.  I decided to give Ulta one more chance and low and behold there was one left!  Yay, I crossed 2 off my list!

What's on your fall wish list??

Big Changes

I made a big change on Friday....I got bangs.  Then I proceeded to cry for the rest of the day!  It was just such a huge change for me.  Well now I've had some time to get used to them.  I wore them to the side on Monday and decided to wear them straight across today.  Here is a picture...excuse the quality, I took it on my phone! Have you taken any hair risks lately?  How did you feel after the deed was done?

Also, I had some time yesterday to play on Pinterest for the first time.  If you haven't tried it out yet, you should.  It's pretty easy to figure out and so creative.  I have boards labled "My style," "Hair," "Nails," "Boxers" (are you surprised?!) and many more!  Let Tina or me know if you want an invite and we'll follow you :)

I am co-leading a group tonight, so I am going in a little late to work today.  I'm gathering the strength to make it through the day!  I went to the Dr. on Monday morning and after some tests, was told I had walking pneumonia.  I had been feeling sick towards the end of my Ecuador trip and was pretty sure it was due to a double ear infection.  As one of my volunteer's says, "I only play a doctor on TV!"  Serves me right for trying to diagnose myself.  I was told I was highly contagious and out of work until today, when the antibiotics have kicked in.  Hence the time for Pinterest yesterday.  I feel like I have a little cold, but the antibiotics are making me feel much worse.  I just pray I have a "typical" day today and am trying to have a positive attitude!  It stinks going to work when you feel gross.  Any tips to make my day a little better?

The new players in town

No not I. And not some random man! I'm talking about my latest distractions: Pinterest and Polyvore.

If you aren't familiar, Pinterest allows you to create "boards" with different titles (i.e. My Style, Home Decor etc) and "Pin" pictures to these boards. You can add your own images from your computer, pin an image from a website, or "re-pin" another person's pin to your board! Make sense? Probably not. Go to the website and it'll make sense! Hopefully.

Polyvore is basically free photoshop for fashion! Just like with Pinterest, you are able to "Clip" a picture and create a "set" (instead of "board) with the images! Polyvore has the ability to be much more design-y than my current abilities (and patience) allow, but it's fun! Go.

Basically, if you need a new way to fill your free time, or distract you from.. laundry, check them out! :)

A glimpse at a few of my Pinterest boards to give you an idea:

My first Polyvore creation!
Fall 2011 H&M

The above items are mostly from H&M. I still want a denim chambray shirt and I just love this blazer!!! You can expect to see more Polyvore creations in future posts! Stay tuned!

And check out Pinterest! You'll love it!
